Talked to an elder today
by MrFreeze ini guess the stars aligned for this one.
this morning i dropped my car off to get it fixed and the shop i always go to is a lot closer to my mom's house than mine so i asked her if i could stay at her house while it got fixed.
she was out in service doing returns at the time and offered to ride me to her house.

I had this new younger fanatical elder over in my house giving me some BS criticism about me being too open minded in my views. After he slammed his hand down on the coffee table, I told him he needed to leave now, and when I escorted him to the door I ask if he wanted to take it out in the yard. His wide eyed look was priceless. He was an arrogant asshole, and I would have loved to have thumped him.

Any person in this cult coming up with anything that isn't "current lieght" is branded an Apostate and DF'd. No independent thinking or study with this group. The WTS is in total control of a JW's beliefs & life. They TELL you what you will currently believe, and will use your family against you to keep your thinking in line with their current thinking.

"They are MAD you know"
by Phizzy ini was reading a bigraphical book where the guy writing visits salt lake city, he knew nothing about the lds/mormon church.
he described the people waliking about like "something out of the stepford wives" he found it a bit weird from the get go.. he then did a bit of research and does a really good summation of exactly how looney the beliefs are, one bit i liked was that in his view there was a line of people going back to j.c that was 2000 years long, back to joseph smith, 150. as he said, which sounds the more plausible?.
what got to me though was a friend of his came to work with him, and had to take taxi to get to the place and was stuck in the taxi for five hours with a mormon driver, upon joining the author he said "they are f***ing mad you know, mormons".. my question is, as i have not spoken to any normal person about jw's who does not know i was once one, do the folks in the normal world who know a bit about jw's see them as effin mad ?.

when does jesus appoint the slave over all his belongings?.
in those verses, jesus is referring to his coming as judge during the great tribulation.matthew 24:30; 25:31, 32.. jesus appointment of the slave over his belongings, then, must also be a future event.

Where did this "God lives in the Pleiades" notion come from?
by james_woods inthe other thread with this name in the title made me think of it again.. i know the witnesses used to say this - and for sure, there are other religions that think this as well.. the fundy-baptist preacher that my sister got to do my fathers funeral made a big deal of it during the service - (why, i cannot fathom...).. so, can some kind scholar here give us a short course in why this particular star formation is so most holy?.
